Wedding Blahs

The countdown is on... Five months and a day to go...

I can't get ahold of my cake baker. I've left him two messages in the past two weeks to call me and let me know what he's up to.

I've sent email twice to my caterer who also has not responded. I need to set up a meeting with them to discuss things like the menu and price and maybe sign a contract.

We don't have a DJ for the reception yet.

We don't have a photographer for family portraits for our reception day.

We have a photographer, but again, no contract. I work with her and she works for a big photography company, but is doing the pictures on the side for a very reasonable price. The only bad thing is that, honestly, I don't really like her all that much... But she takes good pictures. Is it bad to know you don't personally like your photographer?

We haven't picked out our invitataions yet.

Jason doesn't really want to talk about our wedding most of the time. He always says, "I haven't really thought about it" when I ask him what he wants to do for stuff. Of course he hasn't thought about it. That's because I'm doing all of the planning for it. If I left it to him, we'd be hanging out at the park with a keg of beer and maybe some pretzels or chips. It'd be a great keg party.

My advice to everyone from now on... Just elope. Or marry someone rich who will pay for the wedding and then you can have everything that you want and you can hire someone to do all the planning for you!

POKE!

On Sunday, I held a show for a girl that booked from Lindsey's lia sophia show in January. Lindsey went too, since she works with the girl. Lindsey also helped me out oodles at the show - setting up jewelry, helping to pass things out, answering questions, reminding me to mention things - she is the best assistant in the whole wide world. :)

Two girls at the party booked shows with me for March and there are a couple of them considering joining the team! I told Lindsey that if I get a bunch of bookings and people joining all from her original party than she's entitled to a really awesome Christmas present at the end of the year.

We're taking our show on the road in April and driving out to Maryland to do a show for Betsey. That should be fun too! I made the reservation at the car rental place today, so I hope Bets is still planning on having a show...

I'm looking forward to doing more jewelry shows and less work at the restaurant or subbing. I like the whole get paid more for less work thing. Of course with our wedding less than 6 months away, I will take all the work and all the money I can get.

It's snowing big fluffy white snowflakes today. It's really pretty out here in the middle of nowhere. This is what I see out my front window. This picture was taken a few days ago.

Silly Winter

Bessey lives! He showed up on the back porch yesterday after hiding out all day on Sunday. Can't say I blame him - blizzard and all. So I made sure he had lots of food and I rubbed his belly for a good ten minutes yesterday before I got so cold I had to come back inside.

There are over 400 school closings today in West Michigan. Needless to say, I got a snow day today. :)

So it's about -2 outside right now. Not the wind chill. Just the temperature. The windchill is around -17.

We woke up this morning with a frozen pipe. Jason put our little space heater from the bedroom into the bottom of the well house to try to warm up the main pipe. It worked in about an hour! Hooray!

So we braved the frigid cold and went to Home Depot and bought 3 new space heaters since they were on "End of Season" Clearance! Crazy Depot thinks this is the end of the season! So now we've got a heater for the bottom of the well house for the pipes, one in our bedroom with a remote control, one for the spare room when I work in there on the computer, and we have a heater for the garage. That ought to do it

I feel really bad for Bessey - our outdoor cat. He usually sleeps in our barn but I'm afraid it's too cold for him out there. He usually hangs out by our back door for food and lovin' but I didn't see him at all today. I hope he's okay. Poor guy.

We've had a fire burning in our wood stove for the past three days. It stays nice and warm during the day in the main part of the house. It sure saves on our heat bill!

Tomorrow all of the schools in Kent County are closed. There are no sub jobs for me. That means I get a snow day too. :)
