Weekend

It's almost Memorial Day weekend... which means I almost get to plant my flower garden!

I've been getting antsy and anxious to plant since my lilacs started blooming and my lavender is coming back. But because I live in Michigan, I have to wait till after the last chance of frost has passed. Which means - this weekend! Woo hoo!

Leasing a car kinda sucks...

So the shitty thing about leasing a vehicle is that you have to watch your miles...

I got my oil changed today at the dealership and had the receipt-thingy on our side table. Jason looks at it and says "you're already at 7,000 miles?!"

We got the car in November. I'm only supposed to drive 10,000 per year based on our silly lease. So yeah, I'm definitely going over the miles. Problem is that I can't just "cut back" the driving like Jason suggests, since I drive 50 miles to and from work 5 times a week.

For you non-math people, I've done the math for you -> 50 miles per day x 5 days per week = 250 miles per week. Multiply that times 52 weeks per year = 13,000 miles each year just going to and from work.

That doesn't include any trips to the grocery store or bank or post office or Mom's house or any lia sophia shows or anywhere else I might actually want to drive throughout a given year...

So I figure that's a MINIMUM of 3,000 miles over the allotted miles per year x 2 years = 6,000 miles.

Hmmm. Multiply that by 25 cents per mile and you get.... at least $1,500 that I will owe at the end of the lease.

Great.

Divide that by the 18 months remaining on the lease...

I have to somehow come up with a minimum of an additional $83.34 per month that I don't need to use to pay other bills and expenses just to put into a savings account in order to cover the additional miles at the end of our lease in November 2009.

Riiiiiiiiiiight. Where in the EFF am I supposed to magically find that?!

Conclusion: Leasing kinda sucks...

Product Endorsement

The FurBuster <- This is probably the coolest pet gadget I've gotten in a long time!

I just recently learned about the FURminator - saw an add in a magazine and Richelle mentioned it when she was here. I was intrigued...

So I went to PetCo and found it. Score! But right next to it, they had the FurBuster on sale for $25 instead of the $40 that the FURminator cost. And the PetCo lady said they use the FurBuster in their grooming area. The FurBuster came with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Okay, I'll give it a try... Bonus - it's pink. I was betting my pets would hate it....

Nope. Tigger laid down and purred the whole time. He probably laid there for a good 5-10 minutes before he decided to get frisky and try to bit the thing. So I went after Chai next.

OMG - Chai rolled onto her back so I could do her belly!

Holy Crap. The thing works and the cats purr. Tigger even came back for seconds.

I had a big pile of fur when they were done. Jason, of course, said "gross. Put that fur in a bag."
And then he handed me a paper grocery bag to dispose of the fur.

I'm very pleased with my purchase and I highly recommend the FurBuster for long haired shedding cats.
